RUPZI04 Rose of Little Prince

About the Project: The project continues the set of volunteer workcamps dedicated the local asylum for children which provides shelter-care facilities for homeless children as well as for those whose parents are deprived of parental rights. There are about 40 kids living temporary in the asylum before further assignment to the local orphanages or boarding-schools. Since autumn 2005 the asylum is in a close collaboration with NGO “Passage-Zebra”. “PZ”

Work: - Volunteers organise different kinds of cultural animation with children conducted all year round.
- During the spring local volunteers work together with children on making green the playground of the asylum: landscape designer students plan the outfit of the playground and teach children to take care of plants.
- The main task for volunteers will be gardening work (to plant different flowers and bushes).
- Also organisers hope for the help in fence painting, fixing some usual and not very usual play-ground elements, etc.
- Work will be for about 6 hours a day except for weekends. Round tables about landscape design topics, alternative materials in architecture, creative modeling of landscape design ideas (4 classes).
Volunteer's Skills & Interests: The work will require a good deal of imagination and creativity. This is also a great chance to get some experience and practical knowledge of landscape design.
Accommodation & Food: Volunteers will be settled in the center building (with toilets and showers inside). They will reside in 2 rooms with 5-6 beds in each. No need to bring the bed-linen, it’ll be provided by the staff of the asylum. A big sitting-room will be available for eating, camp meetings and group activities. Cooking, cleaning, shopping will be done by the volunteers themselves.
Free Time: Possibilities include sightseeing, cinemas, theatres, museums, discos, international cultural events, friendly evenings with locals. Excursions to the local natural preserve “Divnogorye” (curative spring and ancient churches hollowed out in chalky hills - be ready to spend 1 weekend in tents!) or to a big monastic complex in the town of Zadonsk and some of the cities of the region (Lipetsk, Yelets).

Required Items: Please, bring medical documents: vaccination book, HIV – test etc. The medical form to fill in will be sent in addition. Volunteers aged 18 – 26 years old but exceptions for older volunteers are possible. Letter of motivation.

Notes: Since an invitation letter is connected with some additional expenses we are obliged to ask a contribution of 20 Euro from each volunteer upon extra fees mentioned in the description. It covers the insurance for the whole term, invitation state fees, sending the official letter of invitation to the volunteer via usual mail.
