TZI003 - Orphanage

Duration: Min 2 weeks, Max. 3 months.
Dates: Available all year.
Location: just outside of Mwanza, Western Tanzania
Background Information: The organisation works to provide and support children who are disadvantaged and neglected. The organisations mission is to "build the capacity of the local community to contribute to the advocacy of human rights for children in Tanzania."
Project Tasks: Volunteers are needed to assist with the daily running and activities in an orphanage. Volunteers will assist with such tasks as cooking, cleaning, feeding the infants, having fun with the children, and helping with homework. During the school term, volunteers will have the opportunity to go to the local school with the orphans and teach some classes.
Who Can Participate?: IVP, any volunteers with an interest in helping disadvantaged children
Optional Activities: Mwanza is one of the largest cities based on Lake Victoria, it also a short distance from the Western entrance of the amazing Serengeti National Park.
Placement Costs: US$300 for 2 weeks, or US$400 for 4 weeks. This will include accommodation at the orphanage, and all meals
Visa Requirements: Volunteers must arrange their own visas for Tanzania.
