Background Information: Established in 1999, the center aims to vocational training, cultural education exchange ideas and organized cultural performance for blind people in Hanoi and other provinces of Vietnam.
The organisation assists blind persons from 16 to 30 years old who come from poor backgrounds and have a low level of education (80% of members have not finished primary school due to poverty and their disability)
Project Aims: The center will have vocational training, cultural education, exchange ideas and organized cultural performance, which are suitable for their health so that they can live on themselves.
- Help the blind people integrate into the community having an equal life like other one.
- Giving opportunities for them to take part in different activities, exchange their ideas, deal with the complexes, and improve their self-confidence in life.
- Braille language training, vocational training for members.
- Guiding and training for the people to be able to obtain.

Project Tasks: • The volunteer will help blind Vietnamese students gain mobility and independence in Hanoi by aiding her/him in their daily tasks and studies. This could include helping her/him to take transport, attend classes, and go shopping, read books and other activities essential to daily life.
• To teach English and IT for blind people. • To create intensive and comprehensive language and IT training curriculum for students. • To monitor and evaluate the students’ progress. To provide an assessment of English language skill to students. • To encourage the student to learn English, for example, by organizing leisure activities in English (cinema in English, audio books, ect…), by providing the self-study materials.
Who Can Participate?: Volunteers must be fluent in either English, French or Vietnamese. Volunteers must also be ready to live as local people (basic accommodation, transport by bus or bicycle, local food).
Placement Costs: US$220 per months (US$55 per week) for local food and accommodation in the international youth house.
Transportation: Volunteers are expected to travel with-in Hanoi on either local buses or by bicycle.
Hours of Activity: Volunteering hours are 4/5 hours (flexible) 5-6 days a week to poor students at the center.
Visa Requirements: Volunteers must arrange their own visas.

SIVP = Placements for volunteers with related experience, expertise or proven interest
