VNI016 - Teach Languages to University Students

Project Aims: This center is proud to be the only center that has approval from Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. The center has various training programs such as: phonetics, listening and speaking English, Korea, Japanese, Chinese, etc, international communication English, commercial English, English for children. The center also organizes many other exams to provide TOEIC, TOFEL, IELTS certificate.

Students receive a national certificate after the course which they can then use to study abroad. The Center has scholarships and reducing study fees available for the poorer students. With many experienced teachers both in Vietnam and from many other countries, the main purposes for the sustainability of the center are students’ success and social development of Vietnam.
Project Tasks: Volunteers are needed to teach English, French, Korea, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, etc. There are around 20 students per class. The students are selected on merit for excellence in studies and who desire to learn foreign languages and exchange cultural programs but don't have opportunity to access the languages and communication environment to practice their language speaking skills.

- Your task as a volunteer is to pilot an innovative scheme to provide the students with foreign languages so that they can get a good job after graduating from universities.
• To create intensive and comprehensive language curriculum for students.
• To monitor and evaluate the students’ progress, to provide an assessment of the language skills to students.
• To encourage the students to learn the foreign languages, for example, by organizing leisure activities in the language (cinema in, audio books, ect), by providing the self-study materials.
• Volunteers can also organise if they wish language training sessions for the staff and volunteers of an international volunteering agency based in Hanoi.
Who Can Participate?: Volunteers must have some experience in teaching and have a very good command in languages if not your first language. Volunteers must also be able to communicate in English or Vietnamese. Volunteers must also be ready to live as local people (basic accommodation, transport by bus or bicycle, local food).
Placement Costs: US$220 per months (US$55 per week) for local food and accommodation in the international youth house.
Transportation: Volunteers are expected to travel with-in Hanoi on either local buses or by bicycle.
Hours of Activity: Volunteering hours are 4/5 hours 5-6 days a week to poor students at the center.
Visa Requirements: Volunteers must arrange their own visas.
