FJI006 - Animal and Pet care
Duration: 2 weeks +
Arrival Airport: Nadi International Airport.
Project Aims: The long term plan is to give the local people some basic training and some expertise. The local people who have had some informal training may be able to travel overseas for formal training ( which is not available in Fiji) and then return to Fiji with these skills to be able to teach more people.
Project Tasks: - To teach young people skills in animal care.
- Work on the development of material on pet care and the marketing of pet care for example, developing school visit packages (including posters and talks) you will find entertaining and interesting,
- Helping to run a pet fair.
- Train local people
Who Can Participate?: IVP. Anyone with an interest in animals can assist. Volunteers with vet nursing qualifications or experience are especially welcome.
Placement Costs: AU$75 per week for food and accommodation with a local family
Accommodation: Stay with a family in a western style house (with running water but no electricity) and join in their daily life, and that of the village.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.
Note: Preferably longer term volunteers.
