SMI006 - Primary School

Duration: 2 weeks +
Location: Apia
Arrival Airport: Faleolo International Airport.
Project Tasks: - Assist teachers with Montessori program, ages Crèche to Year 3.
- During holidays administrative duties (office work, newsletters, etc.)
Who Can Participate?: IVP/SIVP. Professional teachers preferred, trainee teachers welcome. All volunteers wanting to participate in this placement are required to submit a police report which clears them for participation in activities with minors. Volunteers must be mature minded, and enthusiastic about teaching children.
Meals: Provided by a Samoan family.
Accommodation: Living with a Samoan family. Alternatively: staying in an apartment - food and accommodation at own cost.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.
Note: Volunteers must respect the Baha’i Faith, and need to be on their best behaviour at all times, inside and outside the school. A neat, conservative dress code and appearance is imperative.
