GTI001 - Wildlife Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release
Duration: 2 - 8 weeks.
Project Aims: To conserve wildlife which includes rescue, rehabilitation and release of native species back to their original habitat.
Project Tasks: The majority of the activities relate to:
- Feeding the animals
- Cleaning their cages
- Trail maintanence, as well as cage construction.
For people with more experience, or who can commit to a longer period of time, opportunities may include:
- Specialised care of sick/injured/baby animals
- Biological monitering of the releasable animals
- Help with the release process
-Environmental education at our
environmental education center, adjacent to the rescue center.
Who Can Participate?: For volunteers who can only stay two weeks, and have little experience, the majority of the work is helping the Rescue Centre's.
Placement Costs: US$100 per week includes 3 meals per day (vegetarian meals offered), accommodation, and transportation between the center and on arrival and departure, as well as 2 trips to the nearby town per week for errands. (this cost can be reduced for longer term placements, i.e. 4+ weeks)
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: For volunteers who can commit to a month or longer. Must speak Spanish at a basic level, as there may not be an English speaking person present to assist with translation.
