ARI014 - Education/Community Development
Duration: Min 4 weeks, Max 5 months
Dates: Between February and June each year
Location: A village in the Province of Santa Fe
Background Information: The organisation was established with the objective of undertaking community work in the village, which gives an incentive to the young people to compromise with the social-political reality and at the same time deepen their knowledge and achieve a wider view of the World. The methodology of their work is based in the exchange of ideas and knowledge through community service, which is planned and organised taking into account the resources available.
Arrival Airport: Buenos Aires
Project Tasks: The volunteer will develop a community development project in a primary school of the village.
The volunteer will be involved in all aspects of the local youth group and also intergrate completely into the teaching staff of the primary school, leading a foreign language course
(the volunteers own language) and organizing specific games and educational activities for the
children of the school.
The volunteer will also be involved in all other community development activities of the host organisation.
Who Can Participate?: IVP. Anyone with an interest in education and community development. Volunteers must be able to make connections with children, young people and be willing to work with people from under-privillaged back-grounds.
Volunteers will need to have a basic knowledge of Spanish, or be willing to take Spanish lessons in Buenos Aires on arrival.
Placement Costs: 150 Euros per month for food and accommodation, and a 150 Euros admin fee to the host organisation to be paid on arrival
Accommodation: Accommodation and Meals are provided with a local family.
Hours of Activity: The volunteer will work 5/6 hours per day from Monday to Friday and at times will need to
participate in group activities on weekends.
Visa Requirements: It is the volunteers responsibility to arrange their own visas, but IVI can assist with information.
Note: The volunteer needs to be prepared to live in a small village of 4000 inhabitants, and to
be organized and independent.
