ARI010 - Conservation, Social Service and Education
Duration: 2 weeks +
Location: Bariloche, Patagonia.
Project Aims: This aim is to be achieved through productive activities based on Conservation and Environmental education.
Project Tasks: Helping in a Lunch service for a poor community at the outskirts of Barilocheā "comedor comunitario" - Cooking and serving food. Participating in recreation activities with the children. Conducting training courses for the older members of the community to develop new skills to assist them in getting a job or developing a better source of income. Helping in developing sustainable vegetable gardens - greenhouse.
Who Can Participate?: Volunteers must be aware of Social responsibility and have had experience with children; and/or have knowledge or experience in conservation and sustainable development of the environment.
Meals: A contribution of US$20 per week for food.
Accommodation: At the house of a local volunteer or member of the host organisation. If accommodation is not available during the high season, volunteers could need to stay at a campsite (AUD$ 5.11 per day), or a hostel (AUD$6.40 per day).
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Must speak Spanish at an intermediate level, be over 21 years of age and be able to obtain a current police clearance.
