Grinding wheat camp
Duration: 15th July - 06th August 2008.
Location: South Lebanon
Background Information: The camp is shadowed by the infamous Beaufort Fortress. Each day loads of crops will be delivered to our camp site via donkeys. The wheat is to be washed, dried in the sun, then boiled until it is ready to be ground & dried again.
Project Tasks: Volunteers will participate in the drying of wheat, grinding the wheat, as well as the packaging which takes place in an open square near the residence. All this goes on simultaneously while other volunteers will be package lentils, chickpeas and wide beans.
Optional Activities: Short trips to neighboring villages will be organized each day, especially for out of town guests.Folklore dancing, oriental music and other interesting cultural activities will be held daily in the evening till 10 pm.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.
Note: There will be seminars during the camp. The themes of seminars will be posted on the program distributed to guests at the on site Registration Desk.
