GRI001 - Sea Turtles.

Duration: Minimum 4 weeks, longer periods preferred.


Project Tasks:
  • Tracking & tagging sea turtles at night.
  • Guard the beach at night to prevent people from entering the protected nesting sites.
  • Make night and morning patrols to check turtles.
  • Talk to tourists, run information kiosks, etc.

Who can participate?IVP and SIVP. in a team of volunteers.Bi-lingual or multi-lingual volunteers (with Greek if possible) are very useful.

Meals: Buy own food. Food costs about 10-15 Euro per day.

Accomodation: Accommodation is camping in tents on the beach. No toilets, apart from the hotel between 9am and 6pm. No hot water, but there is a cold water shower.

Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.

Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.

Note:Placement available between May - October every year.
