MNI004 - Health care projects

Duration: 2 - 12 weeks
Location: Ulaanbaatar and rural areas.
Background Information: A lack of health care, education, medical services and resources in Mongolia have lead to much unnecessary suffering. Without adequate time and resources, local doctors are unable to effectively treat all of their patients.
Arrival Airport: Dalanzadgad airport.
Project Tasks: Volunteers for health care projects assist local doctors and medical staff with the treatment of patients. Volunteers are also involved in other hospital activities such as:
- Record keeping
- Sanitation, nutrition and patient education.
Who Can Participate?: IVP / SIVP. Volunteers interested in Health Care programs must currently be a doctor, nurse, medical student or hospital employee and must demonstrate an appropriate level of training and experience in the medical field.
Placement Costs: Food and accommodation provided with a host family for US$50 per week for food and accommodation. There is also a US$300 administration fee payable on arrival.
Meals: 2 meals per day.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Note: Volunteers will be met at the airport.

IVP = Placements for individual volunteers with no special experience or training.
SIVP = Placements for volunteers with related experience, expertise or proven interest
