UGI015 - Teaching at a secondary school

Duration: Min 4 weeks, Max 26 weeks
Location: close to Kampala.
Project Aims: This is a large school with approximately 940 students between the ages of 14 and 19 years. With only 18 teachers, classes are over 50 students, but keen to learn.
Project Tasks: Volunteers are needed to teach one or more of the following subjects ; English , Maths , Chemistry , Physics ,Computer studies , Geography , Economics , German , French , Tailoring , Motor vehicle mechanics ,Electrical installation , Carpentry and Joinery etc
Who Can Participate?: Any volunteers over the age of 18, who have completed high school. Teaching of some subjects requires prior knowledge.
Placement Costs: Volunteers are asked to contribute US$50 per week for food and accommodation.
Meals: The school will provide lunch and dinner, that volunteers will eat with the teachers. Breakfast is not provided. Volunteers may need to purchase other food to supplement their diet.
Accommodation: Accommodation is provided in the teachers quarters on the school premises. Rooms will be basic, and volunteers should expect electricity outages at times, and bucket showers.
