UGI004 - Teaching in High Schools and Informal Skills

Duration: Min. 6 weeks, max 52 weeks.
Arrival Airport: Entebbe International Airport.
Project Aims: To improve the opportunities for disadvantaged families and their vulnerable children; those who have been affected either directly or indirectly by HIV/AIDS.
Project Tasks: To teach high school aged students in general subjects or informal skills training such as carpentry, sewing and computers.
Who Can Participate?: IVP/SIVP. Teachers or university students with a special interest in education. All volunteers wanting to participate in this placement are required to submit a police report which clears them for participation in activities with minors.
Placement Costs: Accommodation and Food and is provided by a host family for a donation of US$50 per week.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.
Language: English/Luganda

IVP = Placements for individual volunteers with no special experience or training.
SIVP = Placements for volunteers with related experience, expertise or proven interest
