UGI008 - Community Development

Duration: Min 4 weeks, max 3 months.
Location: SW of Kampala, near the Lake Victoria
Arrival Airport: Entebbe International Airport.
Project Aims: To alleviate suffering caused by poverty and disease in rural communities.
Project Tasks: - Assist community development projects. ie promotion of organisation's current activities and projects.
- Orphan support and child rights advocacy.
- Promotion of health care and disease prevention.
- Vocation training (such as computer skills).
Placement Costs: Food and accommodation provided at a cost of US$75 per week.
Meals: Provided by a local host family.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be living in a house with the director of the organisations family.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries
