UGI003 - Community Development

Duration: Min 6 weeks, max 52 weeks.
Arrival Airport: Entebbe International Airport.
Project Aims: To improve the opportunities for disadvantaged families and their vulnerable children; those who have been affected either directly or indirectly by HIV/AIDS.
Project Tasks: Experienced Volunteers in social work, fundraising, small business skills, informal skills or community and organisational development are needed to pass on these skills that could lead 'students' to a job.
Who Can Participate?: SIVP. Volunteers with crafts or trade skills. ie carpenters or mechanics are needed.
Placement Costs: Accommodation and Food and is provided by a host family for a donation of US$50 per week.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be living with a host family.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.

IVP = Placements for individual volunteers with no special experience or training.
SIVP = Placements for volunteers with related experience, expertise or proven interest
