ZAI003 - Orphanage/Hospice for ChildrenZAI003 - Orphanage/Hospice for Children

Duration: Min. 4 weeks
Location: On the very outskirts of Johannesburg.
Background Information: There are approximately 63 children there at present, ranging from 3 months old abandoned babies to 14 years old. Some of the children do have AIDS.
Arrival Airport: Johannesburg International Airport.
Project Aims: An emphasis is placed on getting the children to laugh, have fun and show them love and affection.
Project Tasks: - Assisting with meal preparation.
- Look after babies and
- Assisting the older children with their homework in the afternoons.
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to become involved in provided residential care to families
Who Can Participate?: IVP/SIVP. A Police Records Clearance is required. (To be got from your local Police Station)
Placement Costs: Food and accommodation provided in the children's home
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.
Note: You need to be emotionally strong enough to deal with the fact that this placement is partly an AIDS Hospice. This is an emotional placement!
