Location: near Jeffreys Bay. The reseve is located on 120 hectares of superb coastal forest overlooking the Indian Ocean, and 25kms from the nearby town.
Background Information: The lion population in the Park is approximately 65, of which nearly 25 are sub-adults and cubs. All the lion cubs born at the Park are hand-reared. The Park boasts in excess of forty species of wildlife including Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbok, Duiker, Monkeys, etc.

Project Tasks: Working as a volunteer you will be involved in many aspects of conservation and lion care.
* When we do have lion cubs you will have the rare opportunity of caring for them this means being responsible for the cubs’ well being.
* Interacting with the public which also includes assisting the restaurant staff during busy periods or functions.
* Daily Conservation of fauna and flora in the region as well as identification of mammals, wildlife spoor, animal dung etc.
* Assisting with upkeep of the reserve such as road maintenance, removal alien vegetation etc.
* Upkeep and improvement of lion enclosures for all lions.
* Walking lions on a daily basis, at times with paying clients.
* Observing and studying the lion cubs and their behaviour, cubs are very individual and even the litters vary.
* Checking reserve and boundaries for snares.
* Preparing lions for re-introduction program.
Who Can Participate?: IVP. Anyone with an interest in animals and conservation is welcome.
Placement Costs: Food, accommodation, transfers and donations to the Endangered Wildlife Trust of South Africa and the Wildlife Environment Society of South Africa are included in the placement costs. Volunteers placement costs also help to keep the reserve running. This placement costs 4455 Rand per week. Please check the currency conversation at www.xe.com
Meals: Food supplies are provided to the volunteers, but volunteers are expected to prepare and cook the food themselves.
Accommodation: Accommodation is provided on site in comfortable arrangements.
Visa Requirements: Volunteers are requested to obtain a tourist visa for this placement
