ZAI008 - Predator Rehabilitation
Duration: Min 4 weeks, Max. 36 weeks
Location: Limpopo Province
Project Aims: The animals the centre focuses on are Leopards, Brown Hyenas, Caracals, Cheetahs, Rhinos and many others. The centre is believed to have the Rhino with the largest horn in all of Southern Africa.
Project Tasks: Tasks include, but are not limited to: Community educational programs; animal tracking; general property and camp maintenance; feeding of some animals; veterinary procedures; and research programs. There is also a retired Cheetah facility and a predator orphanage on the premises.
Who Can Participate?: Volunteers must have an interest in animals, plants and research. This is the prefect opportunity for those interested in animals to gain real hands on experience in the South African Wildlife reserves.
Placement Costs: US$448 per week. This covers the following: all meals, accommodation, transport, laundry and housekeeping, research material, internet access, some work clothes and donations to the cheetah feeding program and the organisation. A 10% discount is available for those who pay in full 60 days before their placement commences.
Meals: All meals and drinks are provided in the placement cost
Accommodation: Provided in the home of the director of the predator rehabilitation facility.
Transportation: Transportation is provided to and from Johannesburg on arrival and departure. Transportation is also provided into the nearby town a couple of times a week and to the game reserve.
