KEI003 - Rural School

Duration: Min 4 weeks, Max 3 months.
Dates: Available all year except for one week in April, one week in August and over the Christmas/New Year Period due to School holidays
Location: Western Kenya on the Shores of Lake Victoria
Background Information: This school has 356 students between the ages of 2-14 years. The school also runs an organic vegetable garden in which the children use the learn agricultural skills and also to provide lunch for the students.
Project Tasks: Volunteers are required to teach English, mathematics, Social studies (which covers, geography, History and Civics, Science, Creative arts (Arts and Crafts). English is the language of instruction.
Volunteers can also become involved in the organic vegetable garden.
Who Can Participate?: Anyone who speaks English as a first language
Placement Costs: US$30 per week for food and accommodation. Volunteers will be living with a local host family.
Hours of Activity: Monday to Friday, weekends are free to travel
Language: English/Kiswahili
