KEI022 - Education, Womans Programs and Orphans
Duration: Min 2 weeks, max 6 months.
Location: Near Kisumu.
Arrival Airport: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Project Aims: To give quality education to children to make a complete difference in their lives through love, to make a permanent change in the community.
Project Tasks: - Teach children in the Centre and if possible, in schools in the community with subjects such as maths, English or science.
- Volunteers also needed in the orphanage program;
- HIV/AIDS Education and Counseling Programs;
- General health care and public health education;
- Community development programs related to food security and entrepreneurship.
Womens programs
Who Can Participate?: IVP/SIVP. All volunteers wanting to participate in this placement are required to submit a police report which clears them for participation in activities with minors.
Meals: Volunteers will need to purchase their own food from a local market or the nearby town. Ladies from the organisation will show the volunteer how to cook on a charcoal cooker and teach them some traditional Kenyan receipes.
Accommodation: Costs US$25 per week. Volunteers will live in a building on the church compound.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.
