FJI010 - South Sea Orchids.

Duration: 2 weeks +
Location: near Lautoka.
Background Information: The owners of a small orchid farm are assisting women to establish small businesses to grow orchids and anthuriums to meet the needs of the cut flower market.
Arrival Airport: Nadi International Airport.
Project Aims: South Sea Orchids provide the free horticultural advice and the administration needed to assist the women to start their home-based businesses.
Project Tasks: Volunteers would help both in the establishment of orchid farms and the administration of the scheme.
Who Can Participate?: IVP.
Placement Costs: AU$75 per week for food and accommodation with a local family
Accommodation: Stay with a family in a western style house (with running water but no electricity) and join in their daily life, and that of the village.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.

IVP = Placements for individual volunteers with no special experience or training.
SIVP = Placements for volunteers with related experience, expertise or proven interest
