FJI012 - Teaching Disabled children in Suva

Duration: 4 weeks +
Location: Suva.
Background Information: The special needs school in Lautoka caters for children and young adults from 5-20 years with learning disabilities.
Arrival Airport: Nadi International Airport.
Project Tasks: Volunteers needed to assist children with physical and learning difficulties.
Who Can Participate?: IVP. Anyone with an interest in Children and education is welcome.
All volunteers wanting to participate in this placement are required to submit a police report which clears them for participation in activities with minors.
Placement Costs: AU$75 per week for food and accommodation with a local family
Accommodation: Stay with a family in a western style house (with running water but no electricity) and join in their daily life, and that of the village. Or with teachers from the school.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.

IVP = Placements for individual volunteers with no special experience or training.
SIVP = Placements for volunteers with related experience, expertise or proven interest
