FJI007 - Teaching, Suva and rural areas

Duration: 4 weeks +
Location: Suva or rural areas.
Arrival Airport: Nadi International Airport.
Project Tasks: Assisting teachers at schools with Music, Spoken English, Gardening, Sewing, Tutoring Science, Maths and Computers.
Who Can Participate?: IVP. An interest in teaching is necessary.
All volunteers wanting to participate in this placement are required to submit a police report which clears them for participation in activities with minors.
Placement Costs: AU$75 per week for food and accommodation with a local family
Accommodation: Stay with a family in a western style house (with running water but no electricity) and join in their daily life, and that of the village.
Visa Requirements: It is the responsibility of all participants to obtain any necessary visas.
Required Items: Warm clothes for evenings, sleeping bag, hat, sunscreen, towel, mosquito repellent and basic toiletries.
Note: School Term dates - Term 1: 23rd Jan. to 27th April, Term 2: 14th May to 17th August, Term 3: 3rd Sept to 30th November.

SIVP = Placements for volunteers with related experience, expertise or proven interest
