Geography: The Republic of the Philippines compromises 7,107 islands situated at the westernmost extreme of the Pacific Ocean called the Philippine Archipelago, with a total land area of approximately 300,000 square kilometers or 116,000 square miles, making it the 72nd largest country by area.

Climate: The Philippines has a tropical climate with relatively abundant rainfall and gentle winds. There are three pronounced seasons: the wet or rainy season from June to October, the cool, dry season from November to February, and the hot, dry season from March to May.

Languages: Two official languages --- Filipino and English.

Currency: 1 peso (piso) = 100 centavos (sentimo).
